Town Cottage Renovation

This old cottage on a town center lane, built in 1840 as a traditional three-quarter Cape, lost much of its classic character with a utilitarian addition in the 1960’s. The current owners wanted to open up the rear of the cottage to bring in more light and to create an inviting transition to the backyard garden in a way that is congruent with the original Cape. Only a few small changes – traditional paned windows, French doors, shingles, restoration lighting, and a low deck – restored the charm of this historic home and enhanced its livability and comfort.
